I bought the Mahindra after looking for the right fit. My first choice was a Kubota BX series, but was disappointed with the size, quality and capacities of the BX, so I went to my #2 choice, the Deere 1026R and again, found it to be a disappointment. While looking for the Deere I also saw the big red Mahindra's at the dealership selling new. I tried an 1816, which I found nice, but was disappointed to learn the blower was rear mounted. The owner told me the new Max series was almost the same, had more horsepower and had a front mount blower. The fit was good so I bought the Max 22. I have 60 hours on her now and am completely pleased with my choice. The lift capacity of 900 pounds is about right, although I wish it was just a bit more. The built quality is excellent and using it in the woods gives you a lot of confidence when you are slamming around in the rocks and stumps. All the fenders are hood are steel, thank god because the plastics on the kubota or Deere would already need replacing. The engine is very strong, runs smoothy and is moderate in terms of noise. The air filter is easy to get to for regular cleaning. The oil filter is a bit difficult to get to cleanly to get a filter wrench on it, but it is not impossible. Removing the sides to check the oil is kind of a poor design, but it is not at all difficult. The 3pt hitch is awesome, with a high load capacity it gives me a lot of versatility when strapping logs to the makeshift bar I set up between the 3pt hitch pins. I have added a soft cab, a rear finish mower and a snow blower. I also keep a weight box on whenever the loader is on. It makes a world of difference. The large wheels give tremedous amount of traction especially on hills and in the leaves and dirt in the woods. I also use aRatchet Rake for clearing slash and debris. I have a friend who bought the 1026R and we got together to play. He wishes he had the capacity and strength of the Max 22, but he is still a Deere man, no matter how much better my tractor is. I also got together with another friend with a bx25. There is no comparison. His tractor isn't a tractor at all when compared to the Max22.Pros:
Strength, Build materials and quality, looks.Cons:
Oil filter location and accessability, dip stick locationRating
